About Us

Our History
Friends Club is a Nepali Football club which plays in the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League. Friends Club was established in 1972 as a children’s club with a reading room facility in Kupondole. After a couple of years of its establishment, the club diversified its social activities with the motto of “Better Health through Sports”. Eventually, Friends Club established itself as a well-reputed local sports club and for the next several years, it remained only as a football club that every now and then organized certain social activities but has now evolved from just a sports club to a sport-cum-social-club. Thus Friends Club is synonymous with social and philanthropic works that it has initiated for over 47 years of its existence. Because of the clubs vision, mission and social contributions, it has managed to garner a huge fan base nationally and globally as well.

WAY FORWARD
With the many evolving trends in football today, Friends Club has plans to upgrade itself through professional management and development. The club has identified the following focus areas to take it forward in the future by strengthening the management,  operating under a systemic structure, applying functional business modalities, commencing aggressive marketing initiatives and long term goals to attain AFC licensing. The club also has plans to restructure its finances by employing various financial strategies to make it self-sustainable, generate its finances via property rentals, sporting achievements, club memberships, ticket sales, merchandising and by hosting of various public events.

Friends Club aims to also move forward through its philanthropic activities, encourage private shareholding under its Football as a Business modality and acquire land to establish its own playground, training center, football academy, and hostel.

As a part of this vision and mission to move forward, Friends Club has taken a step forward by importing players from Brazil. To further strengthen the team, the club has also hired a Brazilian coach, Marcus Filipe Sampaio Dantas for the 2076-77 season of Martyrs Memorial A Division Football League. This initiative itself has set a high benchmark in Nepali Club Football.
